About the Institute

The European Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation Institute (ELBT&CI) was founded in 2022 as a partner and under the franchise of Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation Institute (LBT&CI) (https://www.philosophicalpractice.net/), an affiliate of National Philosophical Counseling Association US (https://npcassoc.org/). Through its establishment, ELBT&CI became part of a powerful global training and consultation network, which includes, besides LBT&CI, India Centre for Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation (https://ruiacollege.edu/Department/Deptindex.aspx? page=a&ItemID=cacse&nDeptID=caakg) and Taiwan Logic-Based Therapy Institute (https://sites.google.com/site/lbttaiwancenter?pli=1).

The Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation Institute is an affiliate of the National Philosophical Counseling Association (formerly the American Society for Philosophy, Counseling, and Psychotherapy). Its mission is to advance the theory and practice of Logic-Based Therapy and Consultation. Accordingly, it conducts and sponsors training, and offers certificates in Logic-Based Therapy (LBT) and Logic-Based Consultation (LBC).

Brief history of Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation Institute

The Institute, a subsidiary of Trace-Wilco Publishers, Inc., was founded in 1985 by Elliot D. Cohen with the mission of further integrating logic and philosophy into Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT).
In 1992, it joined with the National Philosophical Counseling Association (NPCA), an affiliate of the American Philosophical Association (APA), and its clinical findings have since been presented at the annual Eastern meetings of the NPCA.
In 2005, at the NPCA meeting, it announced plans to begin a certificate program in Logic-Based Therapy (LBT), the product of over two decades of research and development.
Starting 2022, the European Logic-Based Therapy & Consultation Institute was founded.
